Over here "double-dating" means when you go out on a date with another couple.

In spite of the fact that I met my husband the, uh, traditional Irish way ;), I think trying to get to know someone before you get all drunk is a lot more emotionally mature. I always consider myself lucky that I met E the way I did, because you are more likely to meet a buffoon that way, I think.
